Ebac Neptune 52 Pint Compact Restoration Dehumidifier

I purchased a Neptune Ebac dehumidifier some years back. It worked non-stop for over 5 years in my wet 2,000 SF south Florida garage. I just bought another one and hope to get 5 more years. It works in cold weather and it works with the doors opening all the time keeping a fairly steady state of 50 percent RH.

After purchasing multiple residential dehumidifiers I grew tired of there typically short life (2-3 years). I searched for a commercial grade unit and discovered this one. Completely analog and very well made I could not be happier with its performance. I look forward to many years of trouble free operation.

Use this in a wet basement of 256 sq. ft. with 7 ft. ceilings. It is controlled by a 10 amp. switching dehumidistat, gravity drains into a basement sump and works well for this use. It doesn't move a lot of air, hence better suited for smaller spaces. This is good stout British manufacture with a somewhat noisy metal case. No frills, bells or whistles, looks like a workhorse. Time will tell.

I needed a replacement unit for my basement and the Neptune was the most suitable unit. It is attractive, quiet and easy to move around. It was the best deal, considering cost, capacity and efficiency. The only down side is that it has no built-in humidistat. I am using a Honeywell wall-mounted dehumidistat for control. I bought the Neptune at the end of summer, so it hasn't experienced the most demanding environment yet. But during winter testing, it was able to pull the humidity down from about 50% to 30% in 24 hours.

Retired builder here. I use the Ebac Neptune in my 1400 sq ft basement from spring to early fall. It's efficient, runs quietly, and doesn't need a defrost cycle. I connect it to my underground drainage system, so no emptying is required. Compared to my old dehumidifier, this one uses over 50% less electricity. It's a commercial-grade unit that removes humidity fast and is worth the extra cost.
