Dehumidification operates on two main principles: Condensation with refrigeration dehumidifiers and Adsorption with desiccant dehumidifiers.
Desiccant dehumidifiers excel in cooler climates and situations requiring low dew points, deep drying, or very low humidity levels. Unlike other systems, they function efficiently in sub-zero temperatures as they don’t generate additional water.
Here’s how they work:
Air, known as Process Air, is drawn into the dehumidifier and passes over a wheel coated with Silica Gel. This wheel absorbs the moisture from the air, which then exits the dehumidifier as warm, dry air. The wheel rotates slowly, typically at three revolutions per hour. During its rotation, a portion of the wheel moves through a regeneration segment. In this phase, a separate air stream, called Regeneration Air, is heated and passed over the wheel. The heated air releases moisture from the wheel. It then expels the hot, wet air outside the drying area. This ensures efficient, continuous dehumidification.
